Has PIPA been declared substantially similar to the Federal PIPEDA?

As of the fall of 2004, PIPA has been declared substantially similar to the Federal PIPEDA. All provincially-regulated private sector organizations within Alberta will be subject to PIPA. PIPEDA will still apply to federally regulated organizations in Alberta, and also to personal information connected with any commercial transactions taking place across borders (inter-provincial or international).
