Can mental health clinicians working within the scope of the Student Health Partnership share information with school staff in order to assist schools in programming for students?

The OIPC considered an issue very similar to this in Investigation Report H2003-IR-001 and F2003-IR-003. This Report contemplated a mental health workers' disclosure of health information to a school relating to a student’s suicide attempt.

While the disclosure of health information was found to be in accordance with the Health Information Act in this case, it should be noted that each case that comes before our office is decided based upon its own merits.
