The Request Process

A request to the Registrar under AMVIR would typically be made by a person or organization who wishes to access information on an ongoing basis for a specific purpose or purposes. For example, an insurance company who wishes to access driver abstracts of policy holders would make a request under AMVIR. Where access is granted, the registrar enters into a contract with the person or organization setting out the specific purpose or purposes for which the information may be used.

Ensuring compliance with a contract made under the authority of AMVIR is the responsibility of the Registrar.

AMVIR does not affect transactions normally made by individuals at a Registry Agent such as registering motor vehicles, renewing Operator’s Licenses, or obtaining an individual’s own Driver’s Abstract.
